I am not sure why I decided to share this thought today. Maybe someone needs to hear this.
No matter if I was sick, in a bind, or something broke, my mother's famous line was "What would you do if I weren't here?" This phrase has stuck with me all of my life. Some of my family calls this "stubborn thinking" or that I am being "independent" and in a way I am. However, the lessons that I have overcome using this phrase has built my character and kept me from being dependent on others. Actually its just a mindset that has given me a higher thinking and standard to know if I put my mind to it, I can do anything. I reflect all the time on her advice and share it with some, but only those close to me. There is also the verse Philippians 4:13, which says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
I will admit that being independent and possibly a little stubborn has been built into who I am and that's ok. We all know someone who could probably use this thought because our lives shouldn't be dependent on anything but God and what He allows. We should be open to this phrase, 'What would you do if no-one was here?" We need to stop feeling helpless, defeated, trapped, misguided and start understanding that "We can do ALL things through Christ who gives us strength." (Phil 4:13). Also, if needed, punch Satan in the face and let him know who the boss is. You have the power to do that too.
I sure do miss her. I hope you can share this with someone today. Again, this was just on my mind today and I thought it was worth sharing.
Have an awesome day and be blessed!
